Blinking Light Box
BME 473 (Medical Device Design I): January 2022 - May 2022
The lightbox uses a 556 timer to produce a monostable and astable output. Resistor and capacitor values were used to produce a 10Hz, 50% duty cycle signal (Astable) and around a 5 second duration (Monostable). A switch turns on/off the Astable signal and the pushbutton turns on the Monostable signal. When both are on, the LED blinks for a short duration. The circuit is powered by a 9V battery. It is voltage regulated and reverse polarity protected with a diode. CAD skills were practiced through designing the outer and inner components of the box, and EDA skills were practiced through constructing a circuit schematic and PCB layout on KiCad to user specifications.
