Medical Image Reconstruction

As modeling and simulations are prevalent and are becoming even more prevalent in engineering and design, the goal of this project was to practice using slicer to reconstruct a patient's heart and design a basic outline of a sewing cushion that would fit that specific patient's anatomy.

Steps Taken

Completed basic Slicer tutorials for this project. To reconstruct the patient's heart from provided data: Loaded data into slicer, visualized the 3D DICOM data, found location of mitral valve by choosing coronal, sagittal, and transverse planes, and segmented out the area of interest. Then, loaded this data into fusion360 as a mesh and created a sweep feature that would fit within the patient's mitral valve.
